A loan helped to buy pigs so she has another source of income to be able to help her parents.

Gabriela Margoth's story

Gabriela, 22, was born in the city of Latacunga. She's single, so she still lives with her parents in a rural area of the province of Cotopaxi in Ecuador. She finished secondary school thanks to her parents' efforts. She couldn't go on to the study in the university, however, because of their low income.

Currently she earns a living producing milk, a business she has had for two years. Gabriela learned this line of work from her father. She saw the need to work to help her parents improve their finances. Despite her effort, this family business isn't enough to cover the expenses generated in her household.

The young woman's requesting a loan because she wants to buy pigs and she needs to pay back a debt. This loan will help her generate another source of income to help her parents and generate additional income.

Gabriela's grateful to Fundación Alternativa in Ecuador and to Kiva for making it possible for her to grow in her job and her personal life.
