A loan helped market stall rental and fertilizer for farming business.

Alberto's story

Alberto, 23, is partnered and has a daughter. For now, he's living with his in-laws. He's worked in farming since he was a boy. His father died when he was 13 and he's supported his mother since by working in the fields. Since starting his own family, he works for his mother part of the time and for his own family part of the time. The happiest days for him are market days because he can sell the potatoes that he grows and collect the money that he's earned. He then returns to plant again. The rest of his time is spent growing, harvesting and sorting potatoes. He would like to rent a space in the main market. He says that it would be very profitable because he would sell directly, without resellers. Wholesalers pay what they want rather than the prices agreed on in the market. This is Alberto's ninth loan from Microfinanzas Prisma and he's repaid all of the loans on time. With this loan, he will pay in advance for a market space and buy fertilizer that he needs for his potato fields.
