Fighting for a better future? We need your help.

Creating a more equitable world takes a lot of time and energy, but at Kiva we’re in it for the long haul. 100% of money lent on Kiva goes to funding loans. That means we rely on donations from people like you to make this work possible. For a limited time, if you donate $35 or more, a $25 bonus will be added to your account (you’ll get an email once it’s there).

Mrs. Soeurn Nem Village Bank Group's story

Mrs. Soeurn N. is the leader of an eleven-member group. All the members live in Kngoak Pong Village in Kampong Chhnang Province, Cambodia.

Mrs. Soeurn N. is a housewife who cooks delicious food for her family. Her husband, Mr. Some Phon, gathers firewood and sells it in the local village. They have six children; two children are employed in a garment factory, and the others attend the local school. Even though Mrs. Soeurn N. and her family members earn income from different businesses, they still live in poor conditions and in an old house. To provide better living conditions, Mrs. Soeurn N. requests a loan to add to her savings to build a new house for her family.
