A loan of $275 helped to purchase garden and farm fertilizer and pay labour costs for land cultivation.

Louella's story

Louella, 56, lives in Mahayag Zamboanga del Sur. She was gifted with five children.

Louella is the family's breadwinner. She has experienced hardships, especially in raising her family. This industrious member finds herself plowing the rice field, planting vegetables and doing a variety of other agricultural activities.

In need of additional working capital, Louella decided to join Paglaum Multi-Purpose Cooperative. She has received several loans already and recently requested a loan of 12,000 Philippine pesos to buy farm and garden fertilizer and pay for the labour costs of cultivating the family's land.

Being a member in good standing with the cooperative, she has been able to manage her income and provide for her family's daily needs. Louella is very thankful because, if it were not for Paglaum, she might not have any savings or be guided properly in her finances.

She hopes to own a motor vehicle someday to carry her harvested goods to buyers.
