A loan of $400 helped to invest in the improvement of her rental rooms.

Gloria Maria's story

Gloria María is part of “Las Triunfadoras de Nicrupampa” communal bank, in the district and province of Huaraz, Ancash Department.

Gloria, 39, is the single mother of one daughter. After her father died she had no help, and because her partner also abandoned the home, she had to confront and assume sole responsibility for her daughter, without the help of either her father or her partner. Fortunately, her father did not leave her forsaken, as she says, because she inherited a half-built lot in the north waterfront of the Quillcay River. She has been able to complete the construction so she could rent out the rooms. She comments that the only difficulty has been the effort it has taken to make the house habitable for herself and her daughter as well as to generate income. This loan of $400, which will be repaid in 4 months, will be invested in the improvement of her rental rooms and in furthering her daughter's graduation. Gloria is interested in undertaking a new business together with her sister. She says that it is important to know about business matters.
