A loan of $2,225 helped a member to buy more fish for breeding.

Muong Phang 4 Group's story

Hoa, 40, lives in a small Thai village that's far from the district center with her husband and her smallest daughter. Her two older daughters are married and live far from her. She's a quite shy woman because she's illiterate, but she's a very hard-working person.

Hoa and her husband mostly work at agricultural production, such as growing rice and fruit, and raising pigs, ducks, chickens and fish. Like many men in the village, her husband also works extra for a local construction employer to earn more income.

Together with her husband's effort, Hoa continuously expands her breeding of fish thanks to taking out loans from the Anh Chi Em Program. This is her fourth loan, and she will continue using the loan to buy more fish.

Hoa dreams that she could afford to send her smallest daughter to a good university so that the girl would have a good job in the future and have a better life than her.

In the picture, Hoa wears a traditional Thai bag and stands first from the right.
