A loan helped to buy merchandise for her sari-sari (variety) store.

Susan's story

Susan, 51 years old, lives in Balamban, Mahayag, ZDS, with her husband and three children. Her husband is a construction worker. Unable to sustain the needs of the family with only her husband’s income, she has found ways to attain income through snack and food vending. It began with selling a small amount of viands and snacks to their neighbors.

She joined Paglaum Cooperative, which helped her in the capitalization of her sari-sari (small grocery) store in January of 2004. She became a MIGS (member in good standing) member, which is why she has received loans several times already. Now, she applies for 12,000 PHP (Philippines pesos) to buy merchandise for her sari-sari store. She hopes that her business will continue and someday become a mini-grocery.
