A loan of $325 helped purchase t-shirts, blouses, pants, and clothing for boys and girls.

Juanita's story

Ms. Juanita S., a member of the “La Mujer Riojana” (The Woman from Rioja) microfinance institute, lives in the San Martín department of the province and district of Rioja. She sells clothing for men, women and children for a living. She works as a street vendor, traveling to the nearby towns, but she also sells merchandise to her family, friends and neighbors.

With this 1,000.00 PEN loan, which will be repaid in 6 months, she will purchase women’s apparel, such as t-shirts, blouses, pants, as well as children’ apparel, that way, she can fill the orders made by her customers, who are the reason why she is in business in the first place. She also wants to take advantage of the year-end festivities.

Juanita is 35 years old and lives with her 3 young children and her husband, who supports her with the business. Her husband also goes to different towns in search of new customers. Her goal is to have her own booth in the market so that she will no longer have to keep walking around, and so that she can take better care of her children.
