A loan of $425 helped purchase cooking spices in bulk.

Comfort's story

Comfort A. is 55 years old, married, and the mother of three children. Through her business, she supported all of her children while they attended and graduated from high school. Comfort enjoys selling from which she obtains her livelihood.

She is a small trader who sells cooking spices in the local market. Many customers buy from her stand because she takes good care of them. However, she buys her supplies on credit at relatively high prices due to lack of adequate working capital.

With this loan, Comfort A. wants to purchase bulk supplies of spices to sell to her customers. She belongs to the community group called “Abrabopa” (meaning Good Life) Trust Group. Members in this group serve as guarantees for one another to access and repay loans. Her picture was taken while attending one of the meetings.
