A loan helped cover the costs of higher education and attend medical school.

Yessica Michelle's story

Yessica Michelle is a young medical student. She is requesting a loan to be able to cover her educational costs. This is her story:

“Hello, my name is Yessica Michelle. I am 18 years old. I was born in Santo Domingo and presently live in Lucerna, a region to the east of Santo Domingo. I have a brother 4 years younger than me.”

“My parents separated practically at my brother's birth and my mother has had to play the role of father and mother. She works at present as a sales person in a veterinary store, but what she earns monthly will cover no more than the basics, our food and household costs.”

“All these experiences I have lived through and seeing my mother take responsibility for the home are precisely what has fortified my desire to study and make of myself a good professional, in order to triumph in life and see that my children will not have to suffer such necessities.”

“Since childhood, I have had as my goal to become an excellent medical surgeon and to be able to help my community, offering services to the more needy people in this country who lack sufficient income to pay for a good doctor. I have completed two quarters at the Pedro Henriques Urena National University (UNPHU), but due to the economic situation my family is currently passing through, I will not be able to continue if this loan is not approved. I have the desire and the will to complete my studies but without the money, it will not be possible for me to do so. That is why I need the loan; otherwise, I will be unable to continue my studies or achieve all the things I have mentioned.”
