A loan helped to purchase agricultural supplies to cultivate paddy rice.

Nilima's story

Nilima is a 27-year-old woman who is a housewife. She hails from Dhupguri. She is married to Pulen, who is 44 years old and engaged in agricultural activities. Together they are rearing two children (one son and one daughter). They are students of grade 7 and 5. They live in Dhupguri in Jalpaiguri district.

Their principal occupation is the cultivation of paddy rice, and they depend upon this to generate income to cover their family’s various basic necessities. The product is sold in their region. Her husband is involved in the daily care and protection of the product; she is also involved in the afternoon, after she finishes household work.

Nilima is requesting a loan from BJS (Kiva's partner) in order to purchase supplies such as fertilizer and compost and good-quality paddy seeds. She will use them to provide necessary care for her agribusiness.

Her goals are to be able to increase her production so that each season it will be greater than it had been in the previous one, and to improve her income day by day. She hopes she will be able to build up capital in order to work in her own way, and support her children as much as possible so that they might get ahead and be prosperous people. She dreams to upgrade their house with the profit generated.

She thanks her generous lenders.
