A loan of $975 helped add booths to her phone shop.

Rocio's story

Rocio is 36 years old. She lives with her husband and son in her mother-in-law's house. Three years ago, she created a "telephone shop" ** to serve her community, because before, her neighborhood did not have this type of service available. In years past, Rocio worked in a school cafeteria, but she says that the phone shop is more profitable, and it allows her to stay at home and care for her child. She wants to add more telephone booths to increase her revenue, and so she is grateful for this loan and the ability to realize her dream. This is her fifth loan with Kiva partner Microfinanzas Prisma. With the requested loan, she will add more phone booths to her business and increase her revenues.

** Translator's note: A "locutorio" is a "telephone shop," and it appears to be a place filled with telephone booths, sometimes offering cheaper calling rates than are available by other means.
