Basudev Shg Group's story

Bimala, the lady standing with her raised hand, is 47 years old and married. She lives in a village in the Angul district of Odisha, India with her husband and her one daughter. Her husband earns a living by farming rice and vegetables. She is engaged in the activity of selling rice in her village, having been in this business for three years, and she manages to earn about 3,000 INR per month. This is a group loan for Bimala's group of eight women named Basudev SHG. She is leading her group to apply for a loan. Bimala wants to use her loan portion to buy more rice in bulk and sell it in the market. She hopes to increase her rice business and earn more income to better her living conditions. The members of the group Basudev Shg are very ambitious and are engaged in different kinds of activities like agriculture, retail stores, catering, dairy farming, vegetable selling etc.
