Fighting for a better future? We need your help.

Creating a more equitable world takes a lot of time and energy, but at Kiva we’re in it for the long haul. 100% of money lent on Kiva goes to funding loans. That means we rely on donations from people like you to make this work possible. For a limited time, if you donate $35 or more, a $25 bonus will be added to your account (you’ll get an email once it’s there).

Martine's story

Born on January 28, 1970 in Lomé, Mrs. Martine W. is a single mother of two. She sells a local drink that she makes herself from sorghum and water with the aid of firewood. She has been doing this since 1993 and has a lot of customers, mainly farmers and carpenters.Nevertheless, most people enjoy this drink, especially during festive periods. She is requesting a first-time loan to buy two bags of sorghum and five bundles of firewood.
