A loan of $500 helped construction of a kiosk.

Ruth's story

Ruth, who is 23 years old, has a daughter and lives with her domestic partner who helps her with everything. For the last two years, she has sold a local food similar tamales that are called “juanes” and are made of rice and chicken, olives and egg wrapped in a leaf. She takes them to sell in different places in the region where she lives. What she likes about her work is that she gets to see many places and people. The business is profitable and is going well as she has reliable clients who wait every afternoon for their juanes vendor. This is the second loan that Ruth has taken with Kiva partner MFP. With the loan proceeds, she wants to have a kiosk built which she will use to sell her food rather than have to walk for so many hours.
