Albertina José's story

Albertina José M. is a native of the district of Zavala in the province of Inhambane in the south of Mozambique. She is 47 years old, a widow, and the mother of 6 children. The oldest is 31 and the youngest is 12 years old and is in the 6th grade. Besides her children she also supports two grandkids who live with them. Albertina studied until the 6th grade and stopped to stay home because she was pregnant. In 1976 she went home, and to increase her household income she would transact a little business selling traditional drinks (home made). Albertina has made a living from her business for more than 20 years where right now she is focusing on selling chickens. She acquires a box of 12 chickens for 750MT and sells the box for 1,000MT. She does not have any employees. She lives in her own home. This is her first loan with Hluvuku and also with Kiva. Albertina intends to pay this loan off before the term so she can solicit another loan to use to improve her living conditions.
