A loan of $2,300 helped to buy fertilizers, plastic film for his greenhouses and seeds.

Sergei's story

Sergei has had greenhouses and grown vegetables on his own piece of land in the village of Vodyanoye for 15 years. He has lived and worked in this village his whole life. He worked in the garden with his parents, and they helped him buy his house when he got married. Everything else he did on his own. He has developed quite a good business and has a decent income. At the moment he has three parcels of land, two owned by him and one by his wife. They have 12 large greenhouses on the land and two for seedlings. Everything is heated and covered with three layers of plastic film. For the most part Sergei grows tomatoes and cucumbers.

Sergei plans to invest the sum of 30,000 grivens into purchasing fertilizers, plastic film and seeds. He hopes to put any additional profits earned this season into building a new house, something his family is undertaking at the same time as taking care of the business. So far they have laid bricks and put in windows in this house.
