A loan of $500 helped to build a latrine.

Sreymao's story

Sreymao is 21 years old and a mother of two little children. She lives in a small village in Pursat Province, Cambodia. She is a farmer and her husband is a farmer too. This couple manages a rice farming business, which is the sole source of their income. They grow rice and sell the crop to the local dealers with an average daily income of USD 10.00.

Sreymao wants to improve the general living conditions of the entire family by having a latrine to use, because there is no latrine in her house now. Therefore, she is borrowing a loan from Kiva to build a latrine and buy its facilities. By doing this, she can help her family members gain access to sanitation, promote their health, and help to lessen environmental deterioration. She is thankful for the loan granted through HKL with a much lower interest rate than other general loan products.
