We Can 4 Beteh Group's story

Meet with members of the “We Can 4 Beteh” group from Makeni, a city in northern Sierra Leone. They are all local entrepreneurs who have come to SMT, a partner of Kiva, to apply for a loan of 500,000 Sierra Leonean Leones (SLL) for each. With the help of this loan they will be able to expand their respective businesses, make more sales, and consequently improve their living conditions.

Mariama is the featured leader of this group. The 29-year-old is married to a trader and the two have three children who are attending primary and secondary schools. Mariama sells sweets, soap, toothpastes, etc. and has been a businesswoman for 15 years now. With her share of this loan, she will buy the above mentioned items in bulk to add to her current ones.
