A loan of $1,500 helped to buy a dairy cow so she can diversify her business to help pay for her daughter's higher education.

Julia's story

Julia is 41 years old and single. She has one daughter and her work is selling coca leaves. She is enterprising, determined, strong and very hard-working. Her business is located in Pariri which is near Lake Titicaca and is 4,000 meters above sea level. Julia has a dark complexion; long, dark, braided hair; and is of medium height.

Each morning with the first rays of sun she begins her work hauling her sacks of coca to her stand. Her regular clients begin arriving very early. She does this work from Monday through Sunday until 6:00 p.m. when she packs up her sacks.

Julia dreams of seeing her daughter finish her higher education so that she will be able to improve her quality of life. She wants to improve her business by buying a dairy cow. This is why she is asking for a loan. By diversifying her business she will be able to help pay for her daughter's higher education.
