Flor Nieve's story

In a town called Tierras Amarillas in the canton of Rocafuerte, the members of the credit group Mejorando El Futuro (Making the Future Better) meet biweekly. This area is known for its agriculture; most of the inhabitants make their living with short-cycle crops.
One of the town’s inhabitants, Flor, is 42 years old and is in a common law marriage, from which she has two children aged 18 and 15 who are studying in school. Her husband works in a public institution in Portoviejo.
Flor is a housewife, and in order to make her own income and thereby help her husband with the household expenses, she sells Avon products (beauty products, cosmetics, fragrances, and accessories for women). She works every day, mostly in the morning. She loves her job and has done very well. She sells her products on credit and collects payments once a week. She has been doing this for more than 5 years, and her best-selling products are perfumes and cosmetics.
This loan is to buy perfumes, creams, and cosmetics. She has been with this credit group from the start and she likes it because the payments are easy to make. Her dreams are to keep moving forward with her business.
