A loan of $3,700 helped a member to buy materials to produce wax pencils.

Thuy's Group's story

Thuy is 51 years old and has a son and a daughter. Her husband is a tailor. For the past three years, Thuy has been running a business of making wax pencils to sell to earn an income to support her family. She is the Group Leader of a nine-member loan group that lives in Ho Chi Minh City. In the picture she is in the second from left wearing a yellow and black blouse.

Each of the other group members are requesting loans to fund income-generating activities. Thuy is requesting a loan to purchase better quality materials to produce better wax pencils.

She hopes that through her loan she will be able to increase her income and save money for any future difficulties facing her family.
