Mariama's story

Mariama Sané is 42 years old, married and has six school-aged children. She has been a member of the Médina Plateau village bank for seven and a half years, and is in the business of buying and selling peanuts, lemons and monkey bread fruit (baobab fruit). The peanuts are processed into peanut butter, and then sold in 5-kilogram containers. Mariama wants to expand her business in order to better support her children. The loan that she is requesting will be repaid in a single payment at the end of six months.
