Maa Bankeswari Shg Group's story

Chandramaa, the lady standing with her raised hand in photo, is 35 years old and married. She has two children who are both in schooling. Her family lives in a village of the Koraput District in Odisha, India.

She and her husband earn a living through working as farmers and cultivating rice and vegetables. Having been in this business for seven years, she is able to earn approximately 4,000 INR per month to meet her family’s needs.

Chandramaa is leading a group named Maa Bankeswari Self-Help Group. Its 10 members are applying for the loan with Peoples' Forum. The members of Maa Bankeswari SHG are engaged in different kinds of activities like agriculture, general store, dairy farm, wood business. Chandramaa is going to use her portion to buy fertilizers, seeds, pesticides and some irrigation tools for her farmland. With this loan, she hopes to raise more crops and sell them for a good price to make a better living to send her children to a good school.
