A loan of $1,075 helped to purchase aluminum, super board, and resin.

Edward's story

Edward decided to start his own business 17 years ago, when he completed his degree in Plastic Arts. He lives with his spouse and his two children, ages 26 and 18, in a neighborhood near the beach in the municipality where his workshop is also located.

The principal products that he offers are sculptures and furniture, along with other handmade objects that are the product of his enormous creativity. He makes them to order, according to his customers' requests. Edward sells on credit and for cash, to a clientele that he has had since he started his business; and it is for them that he works 12 hours a day, every day.

His future goal is to organize his workshop, have employees, and ensure that his children become professionals.

His biggest challenge is to increase his customer base; and in order to generate greater productivity, he is applying for a Kiva loan. This is the first financing that he is obtaining from Fundación Mario Santo Domingo; and with it he will purchase aluminum, super board, and resin. With this investment he will be able to handle his sales without requesting an advance payment from his customers; and this is exactly what will make his business improve.
