A loan of $5,075 helped a member to pay school fees for his children and to buy building materials to construct a house for his family.

Aladura Pri. Sch. Koidu Group's story

Meet this group of able and dedicated primary school teachers from the city of Koidu, in eastern Sierra Leone. They have come to SMT/Kiva lenders to apply for a loan in order to meet their varied and most immediate financial challenges. At the end of each month, they can easily repay the loan using their monthly salaries. Their school’s bursar, who is directly responsible for doing the deductions from their salaries, will make the repayments on their behalf.

Sahr, 64 years old, is the featured leader of this group of teachers. Born in Freetown, Sierra Leone’s capital city, he is married to a teacher and has 10 children who are attending secondary and tertiary academic institutions. Sahr has been a school teacher for 10 years. He has requested this loan in order to pay school fees for his children and he will use the rest to buy building materials such as iron corrugated sheets, sand, cement, iron rods, etc. to construct a dwelling house for his family.
