Hope's story

Hope is 36 and lives in Nasana Village in Wakiso District - central part of Uganda. She is married to a loving and supporting husband and they both have 5 children, the elder being 22 years and the youngest 14. Three of them are yet to graduate and others are still in secondary school . The husband works as Primary teacher at where he earns $700 on monthly basis to supplement the family income. On a good season, she earns $400 from selling banana to the local market. However, her business faces the challenges of inadequate labour and skyrocketing prices of organic fertilizers. She envision to boost her business production and later set up a permanent shelter for the family. She has ever acquired a loan before from another local micro finance but due to high interest rates and collateral requirement, she is unable to continue accessing the loan. She is therefore seeking affordable loan of $600 to buy enough organic fertilizers. Part of the loan shall help her to put her 5 other acres of land into productive use.
