A loan of $1,500 helped to buy labels, packaging, and fruit, and he to adjust his machinery.

Harold De Jesus's story

Harold is 19 years old. In 2012, after having worked in a municipality in the Magdalena department processing dehydrated fruit, he decided to undertake his own business doing this. He now produces dehydrated fruits that he sells to independent sellers and to designated catalogs.

He engages in the process through the following steps: decontamination of the fruit, processing, dehydrating, and packing. He works every day from two in the afternoon until nine at night.

His most important goal is to enter the chain store market. His greatest challenge is managing all of the records of the process.

He is currently applying for a Kiva loan, his first loan with the Fundación Mario Santo Domingo. He will use the loan to buy labels, packaging, and fruit, and he will adjust his machinery. With this investment his business will improve. He will increase his productivity and generate the ability to respond to his customers’ orders on credit.
