A loan of $800 helped to buy women's clothes and infant colognes.

Rosana's story

Rosana is 34 years old, she lives with her partner and her 3 children, who are from 6 to 16 years old, in the southwest of the city. Here she has a small store that she started in 1996 when she saw the lack of a shop that sells things such as colognes, perfumes, clothes and costume jewellery.

She began linking with businesses that supply specialist magazines so that she could sell, and little by little with her own capital she equipped her own home with a space for her business and purchased a glass cabinet so she could display her products and sell much more.

She works every day from 9 in the morning until 8 in the evening. She offers her products both on credit and for cash payment. Her main customers are from the area where she lives and they are the main promoters of her commercial image.

Her longer term goal is to increase the size of her business and give her children a quality education.

She is applying for a kiva loan, her first from Fundación Mario Santo Domingo, and will use it to buy women’s clothing and infant colognes. These will much improve the selection offered by her business, and this loan will allow for a greater customer base and improve her business.
