A loan of $250 helped to purchase a mobile phone and a solar charging set so that he may provide vital farming information to his community.

Samuel's story

Samuel is 25 years old, married with two children. He earns his income through the sale of crops and his volunteer wage from his local farmer store. He grows coffee, maize, bananas, and Irish potatoes. He also has cows and goats. Samuel looks forward to becoming a Community Knowledge Worker (CKW). As a CKW he will use the materials in his business-in-a-box (smartphone and solar charging) to disseminate vital agricultural information to the other members of his village, helping them to improve their crop yields and increase their incomes. With the additional money that he will earn as a CKW, Samuel will buy farm inputs for his farm and pay school fees for his children. His biggest dream in life is to become commercial farmer in his community!
