A loan of $475 helped to purchase toys to sell for Christmas.

Gina Marilu's story

Gina is 35 years old and belongs to the communal bank “Fuente de Vida” (“Fountain of Life”). She lives on Vargas Llosa Street in the province of Trujillo, La Libertad, Perú. She studied obstetrics, but did not finish because she got married. She has three children who still depend on her.

Her business consists of selling bread, rosquitas (thin crusted breads in curved shapes), cakes, cheese, manjar blanco (dulce de leche). She realizes these activities in her house.

With her first loan of 300.00 soles, which was canceled in four installments, she started to buy rosquitas.

With this loan of 1,400.00 soles, to be repaid in six months, she will purchase toys to sell for Christmas.

Gina dreams of having her own home and a large business.
