A loan of $1,500 helped to purchase fruits and vegetables.

Mauleen's story

Greetings from Zimbabwe! This is 48-year-old Mauleen from Harare. She is married with three children, two who attend school.

Mauleen runs a retail business selling vegetables. The business has been in operation for 15 years. She says the main challenge faced is that the products she sells are perishable, which quickly turn bad when they do not move quickly and therefore result in losses.

Mauleen has requested a loan of $1,500 (USD) to buy more vegetables and fruits for resale. She says the extra income generated as a result of this loan will allow her to increase her profits, which will assist to ease college fees for her son.

In the future, Mauleen plans to buy a truck which will ease transportation costs and hassles as she wishes to go to nearby farms to source the products. She says the low interest rates being offered by MicroKing and Kiva will enable her to sustain her business.
