A loan of $575 helped to purchase pants, jeans, blouses, shirts, footwear and handheld fans.

Luz's story

In January 2013, a friend advised Luz to begin selling a variety of merchandise in order to generate income to benefit her household. She began to do this, and since then she has not stopped. She sells pants, jeans, blouses, shirts, footwear and handheld fans on credit directly to final consumers. Among her customers are friends and others whom they have referred to her. In order to offer competitive prices, Luz makes her purchases from warehouses and distributors in the city. She works from 8 in the morning until 8 at night. Her goals are to open a permanent location, to solidify her customer base, and to put money in the bank. The latter two items are her main challenges. She is currently seeking a Kiva loan, which is her first loan through Fundación Mario Santo Domingo. She will use the proceeds in order to purchase pants, jeans, blouses, shirts, footwear and handheld fans. With this investment she will be able to increase her sales and her profits.
