A loan of $525 helped to buy fertilizers and perform maintenance on his coffee plantations.

Melvin's story

Melvin, 51, is married and has three children. He lives with his family in the municipality of San José, Comayagua. He has been growing grains his whole life. He has been growing coffee for ten years in the land he owns. He sells it in parchment [dried, but unhulled] to local intermediaries.

Melvin has requested several loans to maintain his plantations in good shape. He is now requesting his fifth loan: 10,000 Lempiras [HNL] to buy fertilizers and perform maintenance on his plantations. His goal is to be able to buy a piece of land to grow more coffee and make sure his children have a bright future.
