A loan helped a member to purchase pastry ingredients in bulk and with the profits, improve her family's quality of life.

Las Abejitas Group's story

Sonia is a 51-year-old woman, married and the mother of one child, who works in pastry making.

She is enterprising, determined, strong, happy, very social, and very hard-working. The need to achieve her goals has brought her to form a bank of people with similar needs to apply for a loan. Her business is located in Sacaba, a place with has a warm climate and is moderately dry, located 13 kilometers to the east of the city.

Sonia has a tanned complexion, long black hair, dresses fashionably, and her hands are strong and look dry which indicate the weariness of her work (she is standing on the right side, in a green sweater). Her work is in pastry making, she has worked for 20 years in this art of preparing or decorating pastries and other deserts. Her specialties are cakes, pastries, cookies, and puddings. The secret to prepare those is to limit the mixing of the dough. Once the flour has been added, she decides to use ingredients such as leavening or sodium bicarbonate (baking powder), and this makes the pastries spongy.

Sonia wants to increase her production quantity due to the demand that she has, grow her economic profits, and improve her quality of life. To achieve this, she needs to purchase the following products in bulk: sugar, eggs, flour, butter, vanilla, chocolate, cream, leavening, etc. She wants to maintain her customer's market.

It is for these reasons that Sonia applies for a loan to purchase pastry-making ingredients in bulk and with the profits, improve her family's quality of life.
