A loan of $500 helped to build a latrine.

Suon's story

Suon is 37 years old and a married man who has two dependent children. He lives in a rural area of Pursat Province. To earn a living, Suon and his wife manage a rice farming business, which is the sole source of their income. So far, they have been in this occupation for almost twenty years, with the average income of USD 7 a day.

Suon wants to improve the general living conditions of the entire family by having a latrine to use because there is no latrine in his house now. Therefore, he is borrowing a loan from Kiva to build a latrine and buy its facilities. By doing this, he can help his family members gain access to sanitation, promote their health, and help to lessen environmental deterioration.

He is thankful for the loan granted through HKL with a much lower interest rate than other general loan products.
