A loan of $275 helped to purchase cigarettes, pure water and biscuits to expand her business.

Mabinty's story

Meet Mabinty, a 38-year-old from Lunsar Northern area in Sierra Leone. She is married with four children. For more than 15 years, Mabinty has established her retail business. She began her business because she wanted to take care of her family's welfare. She works at the business from 8:00 am until 5:30 pm, six days per week. She says that the main challenge to her business is price inflation and poor electricity supply.

Mabinty requires a loan in order to purchase cigarettes, pure water and biscuits to expand her business. Seemingly distinct businesses are often mixed in Sierra Leone, the idea being that a customer will come to purchase one thing but will leave having purchased another. She hopes that the extra income from this loan will allow her to take care of her family welfare and increase her business. In the future, Mabinty plans to expand to open another shop. She thanks you for your support.
