A loan of $325 helped a member to buy more farm items.

Christine's Group's story

Christine's group is composed of hardworking women. Christine is 16 years old and lives in the town of Rubirizi in the Kabwohe region of Uganda. She is single and has no children. For the past three years, Christine has been working hard to manage her farming business, which sells coffee.

To help expand her business, Christine has requested a loan of 300,000 Ugandan Shillings from BRAC Uganda. The loan will be used to buy more farm items, and will help Christine to generate greater profits and increase income. Christine hopes that in the future, she will be able to earn more profits.

Christine is a member of BRAC's Empowerment and Livelihood for Adolescents (ELA) program. In addition to microfinance loans, the program provides both a safe place for young Ugandan women to take part in group activities, and a forum for life-skills training.
