A loan of $775 helped to buy chemicals, weaves, braids.

Rhona's story

Rhona is 42 years old and lives in the town of Wakiso in the Kampala region of Uganda. She is married and has three children who are all currently in school. For the past six years, Rhona has been working hard to manage her salon, which deals in hair dressing.

To help expand her business, Rhona has requested a loan of 2,000,000 Ugandan Shillings (UGX) from BRAC Uganda. The loan will be used to buy chemicals, weaves, and braids. This will help Rhona to generate greater profits and increase stock. Rhona hopes that in the future she will be able to set up another beauty shop.

Rhona is a member of BRAC's Small Enterprise Program (SEP). The program primarily serves small entrepreneurs like Rhona who do not have enough collateral for commercial loans, but have businesses that have grown too large for microloans.
