A loan of $775 helped to buy food items and saucepans.

Harriet's story

Harriet is 48 years old and lives in the town of Buwenge in the Jinja region of Uganda. She is married and has six children, with four of them currently in school. For the past 12 years, Harriet has been working hard to manage her restaurant, which sells cooked food.

To help expand her business, Harriet has requested a loan of 2,000,000 Ugandan Shillings from BRAC Uganda. The loan will be used to buy food items and saucepans, and will help Harriet to generate greater profits and expand the business. Harriet hopes that in the future, she will be able to have growth in the business.

Harriet is a member of BRAC's Small Enterprise Program (SEP). The program primarily serves small entrepreneurs like Harriet who do not have enough collateral for commercial loans, but have businesses that have grown too large for microloans.
