A loan of $775 helped to buy more clothes.

Mary's story

Mary is 46 years old and lives in the town of Kamwenge in the Fortportal region of Uganda. She is married and has 4 children, with one of them currently in school. For the past 15 years, Mary has been working hard to manage her clothing business, which sells clothes.

To help expand her business, Mary has requested a loan of 2,000,000 Ugandan Shillings from BRAC Uganda. The loan will be used to buy more clothes, and will help Mary to generate greater profits and increase on business. Mary hopes that in the future she will be able to have better living standards.

Mary is a member of BRAC's Small Enterprise Program (SEP). The program primarily serves small entrepreneurs like Mary who do not have enough collateral for commercial loans, but have businesses that have grown too large for microloans.
