Titritob - Makayili Group's story

Akua is 38 years old and a member of a Shea butter processing group. They process Shea butter for both the local and the export markets. She has been doing the business over the last eight years. Their group is called ‘Titritob - Makayili’ Women Association. She makes good profits from the business because she and every member of her group have been trained by Grameen Ghana and Actionaid on how to process high quality premium Shea nuts and Shea butter for sale.

Akua and the group have asked for a loan of GHS 10,350. Her share of the loan will help her to pay for the cost of 15 bags of Shea nuts for processing. By so doing, she would increase productivity and income and hence, repay the loan, and support her children’s educational and health needs.
