Creating a more equitable world takes a lot of time and energy, but at Kiva we’re in it for the long haul. 100% of money lent on Kiva goes to funding loans. That means we rely on donations from people like you to make this work possible. For a limited time, if you donate $35 or more, a $25 bonus will be added to your account (you’ll get an email once it’s there).

Gad's story

Gad is an old client to the organization who has applied for a loan of 800,000. He is age 49 years, married, and blessed with five children. He lives in Rwakabengo, Rukungiri district. He is a teacher, and has depended on this salary as his main source of income for 24 years; he does agriculture as an additional source of income. It’s from this salary that he has been able to get income and meet his family's needs.

However, he realized that alone was not enough to meet his entire domestic financial needs, and he joined Ugafode for financial assistance; he took this loan to buy agriculture inputs, i.e fertilizer, to increase his agricultural production. Gad is happy with Ugafode since it has enabled him to be where he is now.
