Benkadi Iii Group

The Benkadi III group consists of ten married women who on average are 32 years old with five children, all living in polygamous families in Sirakoro, one of the villages of Bougouni in the third administrative region of Mali.

They have been working with the Soro Yiriwaso micro-finance institution in carrying out their winter farming activities. They are on their third loan with the institution, and past loans were fully reimbursed.

The selected crop is rice featuring Amine, the first woman standing from right to left in the photo. With her ​​loan, she will buy agricultural inputs and seeds, and pay for plowing and weeding to maintain 1.5 hectares (about 3.7 acres).

After the harvest the production will be sold in the village market to a clientele composed of men and women.

She expects to make a profit of 35,000 CFA francs per growing season. This profit will enable her to repay the loan and help her husband with daily household expenses.

Le groupe BENKADI III est constitué de10 femmes mariées ayant une moyenne d’âge de 32 ans et 5 enfants et vivant toutes dans des familles polygames à SIRAKORO, un des villages de BOUGOUNI, 3ème région administrative du Mali.
Elles collaborent avec l’institution de microfinance Soro Yiriwaso afin de mener à bien leurs activités agricoles hivernale.
Elles sont à leur 3ème prêt avec l’institution, les prêts passés ont été bien remboursés.
Le riz est la spéculation cultivée de AMINE, la 1ère femme debout dans la photo de la droite vers la gauche.
Avec son prêt, elle compte acheter des intrants, la semence, payer les frais de labour et de sarclage pour exploiter 1,5 hectares.
La production sera vendue au niveau du village, au marché, après la récolte à une clientèle composée d’hommes et de femmes.
Elle compte réaliser un bénéfice de 35.000FCFA par campagne.
Ce bénéfice lui permettra de rembourser son prêt et d’aider son mari dans les dépenses quotidiennes de leur ménage.

Soro Yiriwaso is a microfinance institution that works primarily in rural and semi-urban areas of Mali to provide underprivileged communities with access to financial services.The organization facilitates access for disadvantaged clients, particularly women, to new resources and services, fostering solidarity and cooperation among its clients. Kiva lenders’ funds will enable Soro Yiriwaso to expand its outreach and target even more underserved Malians involved in business and agriculture.
