A loan of $725 helped buy frames and lenses.

Wilber Fernando's story

Wilmer is 27 years old, married, with two children ages 6 and 10 who study in the Laureles Sur neighborhood primary school. For six years Wilmer has sold optical contacts with his wife. He initially worked with his sister, who started him in this business and encouraged him to become independent and generate his own earnings. He travels by bus to the north side of Nicaragua, more than 120 kilometers to high-risk places because there aren’t many people who travel to the people who live in the mountains or other places far from the city. But in order to gain customers and sales he makes the trips. With the loan he plans to buy frames and lenses to sell and offer to his customers, with this investment he hopes to obtain positive expectations. In the long term he plans to make improvements to his home and educate his children.
