A loan of $500 helped to increase her stock of grocery items.

Shylet's story

Shylet is a 20-year-old Cama (Camfed’s alumnae association) member and mother from the Binga District of Zimbabwe. Shylet runs a grocery store where she sells sugar, salt, peanut butter, and washing soap. When she is not working on business matters, Shylet volunteers as a community health trainer who disseminates health information to the people of her community; she also volunteers as a Camfed Learner Guide at the local school.

Shylet intends to use the Kiva loan to purchase grocery items in bulk from wholesalers to make a profit. With the increased profits, Shylet would like to further her education and train as a nurse.
