A loan of $500 helped to purchase more broiler chicks and chick feed to increase production.

Sinikiwe's story

Sinikiwe is the married mother of two children and lives in the Wedza District of Zimbabwe. She volunteers in a community school as a Camfed Learner Guide, offering guidance and support to students through life skills education. Over the past year, Sinikiwe has been running a poultry business that produces about 100 broiler birds every 6 weeks. She started the business when she wanted to increase her family’s income and she knew that poultry production is a thriving business in her community. Sinikiwe intends to increase her sales volume and profits, so she will use the Kiva loan to purchase more broiler chicks and chick feed to increase production. This will enable her to provide for her children’s needs, as well as pay school fees for her two siblings.
