A loan of $500 helped purchase merchandise for her neighborhood store.

Sonia's story

Sonia is 37 years old, and is a single mother with two children who are both studying in school. From the time she was a girl she helped on the small farm, but now that she has her own children she only plants potatoes and corn for their own consumption. 6 years ago she opened a neighborhood store, which she began with a few products, and as time has passed it has continued to grow. At the same time, she has not stopped planting on her small farm, and a few years ago she began raising sheep. In the later hours of the day she closes her neighborhood store to take her sheep into the fields. Sonia enjoys being in contact with people, however, sometimes she finds it difficult when there is not enough money to stock her business. For that reason, she plans to dedicate more of her time to her small farm by planting peas in an effort to earn additional money to invest in her business. This is her 7th loan, and she has never had difficulty making her payments on time. With 1,000.00 PEN she will purchase merchandise to develop her neighborhood store, and the rest she will use to acquire 6 bags of fertilizer.
