Aminata's story

Meet Aminata, who has a table at a busy market place from which she sells onions, palm oil, rice, sugar, gari, fish and other ingredients. These are bought by her customers to make local spicy stews (such as “green”, “cassava leaf”, “groundnut soup”, “pepper soup”, etc.) for their families. Aminata is 41-years-old from Lunsar Northern area in Sierra Leone. She is married with four children. Since 2000, she has been running this business. She began her business because she wanted to earn her daily living. She works at the business from 7:00 am till 6:00 pm. She says that her business is doing well because it improved her life and family's well being. Aminata requires a loan in order to purchase more palm oil, sugar, and potatoes leaves to expand her business. She hopes that the extra income from this loan will allow her to take care of her family's welfare and increase her business. In the future, Aminata plans to expand her business more than ever.
