A loan of $700 helped a member to buy a cast net and other fishing tools to support her fish-catching business.

Sokhom's Group's story

A 52-year-old mother of six children, Sokhom is the breadwinner for her family, which struggles to survive. Sokhom earns a living via a fish-catching business and her day job. Her fish-catching business has generated about 40,000 KHR per day for her.

Now, Sokhom has formed a group of two to request a new loan from VisionFund (Kiva’s partner) as first-time borrowers. For Sokhom, the group leader, she will spend her entire loan portion to buy a cast net and other fishing tools to support her fish-catching business. Sokhom strongly hopes that she can gain a better yield than before.
